Senior's Card

Big savings on offer for New Zealand seniors

Seniors across the country are today being invited to join New Zealand Seniors Card, an innovative new shopping and travel programme.

Designed exclusively for people over 55, Seniors Card will be launched today at Carter Observatory, recognising the vital role seniors play in the national economy.

Chris Herron, General Manager of Seniors Card, said the programme offers an array of savings and discounts to the 800,000 people in New Zealand aged over 55.

?The programme recognises the massive spending power and influence of seniors and gives them the long-awaited opportunity to exert their buying power.

?Leading national chains, including Avis Rent a Car, Michael Hill Jewellers, Best Western and Mister MINIT have already recognised the value of joining Seniors Card,? Mr Herron said.

?Combined with hundreds of individually owned businesses throughout the country, seniors now have the opportunity to save money on a huge variety of goods and services.?

Mr Herron said New Zealand Seniors Card has been warmly welcomed by peak charitable senior?s organisation, Age Concern.

Garth Taylor, Chief Executive of Age Concern said the card was a perfect fit with his organisation?s objective to promote ageing as a positive experience.

?We both anticipate that Seniors Card will encourage members to pursue a more active lifestyle while saving precious money at the same time,? Mr Taylor said.

Mr Herron today invited people aged over 55 to join Seniors Card and access an exclusive range of savings on travel and shopping, from accommodation and tourist attractions to optometry and mobility scooters.

Seniors wishing to access the New Zealand Seniors Card benefits can register for a two year subscription fee of $24 ? just one dollar a month.
